Moroto Solar PV & Battery Energy Storage Project
A proposed 20 MWp Solar Photovoltaic Plant integrated with a 10 MW / 30 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Moroto District, Uganda.
Designed to support clean energy generation, grid flexibility, renewable energy integration, and long-term energy resilience, the Moroto Solar PV and BESS Project represents an important step toward strengthening Uganda’s energy infrastructure through utility-scale renewable energy development.
Project Status: ERA-approved feasibility-stage project progressing through detailed feasibility studies, permitting, grid studies, and licence-application preparation.

Karamoja Solar Company Limited is the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) established to develop the proposed Moroto Solar Photovoltaic Plant with Battery Energy Storage System in Moroto District, Uganda.
The company is progressing the project through detailed feasibility studies, environmental and social assessments, regulatory engagement, grid integration studies, licensing preparation, and investment readiness activities.
Our objective is to develop a renewable energy facility that combines solar generation with battery storage to deliver a more controllable, flexible, and grid-supportive energy solution than solar-only generation.
